Flavours of Glenroy (2013-4)

The Flavours of Glenroy (2013-4) was a public art project that occurred over 2013-14. Using Mobile Edible Gardens, artists Rowena Booth, Shane Hulbert and I took to the street of Glenroy to connect the community through art, gardening and nature.  In May 2013, we spent the day speaking to Glenroy locals and engaging with the community around our interventionist garden beds. The Glenroy Harmonisers, a local community group performed as well, along with our partners Scope, who assisted in growing our plants. In 2014, we were invited to host The Great Mobile Edible Garden Race at the Glenroy Festival. We had an amazing day full of playfulness and competitiveness, bringing together the community over an art project which encouraged locals to consider sustainability through the connection to the food we grow and eat. The Flavours of Glenroy was funded by Moreland City Council's Celebrating Place Grant. Listen to our interview on about the Great Mobile Edible Garden Race on Triple RRR in 2015.
